Demography of Population

Malaysia’s population in 2021 is estimated at 32.7 million. A society that is well known for its diversity and tolerance, the largest ethnic groups are the Malay, Chinese and Indian communities.

Weather

The climate in Malaysia is pleasant all year round (29°C – 34°C) although there is a relatively high level of humidity. There is little difference in temperature throughout the year and there are no distinct seasons except for the wet season, which runs from October to January. Lightweight clothing is adequate throughout day and night unless you visit the surrounding hill resorts where it is cooler.

Transportation

Transportation in Kuala Lumpur is diverse and efficient, offering an extensive network of buses, light rail commuter trains, and metered taxis. E-hailing services are also available with the most common GrabCar service being the choice of urban dwellers, you can also opt for self-driving by using car rental service apps such as SOCAR that charge at a very reasonable rate per hour. For those who like to travel, Kuala Lumpur acts as a gateway to destinations all over South East Asia and beyond. Being a base for Air Asia (modelled on Europe’s Ryanair) fares to many cities in the region are relatively inexpensive.

Malaysia is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 7 hours ahead of United Kingdom (GMT+1)

Currency & Banks

The national currency is the Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Malaysia has a large number of banks to choose from, both local and international. Some local banks include Maybank and CIMB, while other international banks are HSBC, Citibank, UOB, and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia. Foreign currencies can be changed at banks or authorized money-changers throughout the country. Most major credit cards are accepted with Visa and MasterCard being the most common types.

Electricity

In Malaysia the power plugs and sockets are of type G. The standard voltage is 240 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Petronas Twin Towers

The Petronas Twin Towers rise 452 meters above Kuala Lumpur and are the tallest twin towers in the world. Visitors can enjoy city views from the 86th-floor observation deck and walk across the unique double-decker skybridge.

Petrosains

Petrosains is an interactive science center located in Suria KLCC. It’s a fun and educational place for children and families to explore science and technology.

Chinatown Kuala Lumpur

A lively district filled with history and culture. Visitors come here for the busy street markets, colorful murals, and a wide variety of local food.

Outdoor Parks and Trails

Families can explore nature at Taman Tugu Trail or Bukit Kiara Park. These spots are perfect for hiking, cycling, and picnics in a safe and scenic setting.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

A huge theme park with water slides, thrilling rides, and animal attractions. Its themed zones, including the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon, offer fun for visitors of all ages.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a famous Hindu temple complex set within impressive limestone caves. The site is known for its towering golden statue of Lord Murugan and the colorful staircase leading up to the main cave.

KL Bird Park

Home to hundreds of bird species in a lush, open-air sanctuary, visitors can walk through free-flight aviaries and enjoy close encounters with exotic birds.

Firefly Watching

In Kuala Kubu Baru, visitors can take a boat ride along the Selangor River to see fireflies in their natural habitat. The mangrove forest comes alive at night as thousands of these tiny insects glow along the riverbanks.

Genting Skyworld Theme Park

Genting SkyWorlds is a 26-acre outdoor theme park set 6,000 feet above sea level at Resorts World Genting. It has nine themed worlds with rides and attractions designed for both families and thrill-seekers.
