The term dates follow closely those of Australian Schools.

In the past, Australian expatriate parents in Kuala Lumpur had to send their children to American or UK schools, which have September - June academic years. Many students, besides having to adapt to a new curriculum, found themselves held back or accelerated to fit in with different years. The Australian International School year runs from January to December, matching that of Australian and New Zealand schools. This is a significant advantage.
