This week we welcome our new Head of The Arts, Mrs Eryn Grady, who will commence her time at AISM with a week of handover form Mrs Tracey Neismann, who has so capably taught Mrs Grady’s classes in her absence. We thank Mrs Neismann for her work and look forward to seeing her around the campus as a relief teacher throughout the Semester.

Andrew Colbey - remembering a special teacher, colleague and friend

Last week our community was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Andrew Colbey in Australia on 24 July 2016. Up to his departure from AISM in December 2014, as a former Co-curricular Coordinator in the Middle and Senior School, he worked hard to provide a full range of competitive and friendly sporting opportunities for our students as well as introduce other activities to enrich the learning experiences for our students. Cheryl, his wife who worked as a Library Assistant, supported Andrew in his sporting endeavours and together they were responsible for the commencement of the ‘Sporty Girls’ Netball’ opportunities that are still enjoyed to this day by our students.

While we were sad to farewell the Colbey family at the end of 2014, we now remember Andrew for his friendly smile, friendship and his all-round sporting abilities and we share a kindred spirit with Cheryl, Samuel and Charlotte as they come to terms with their loss. In memory of Andrew, the School has decided to name an end of year Senior School sporting Award in Andrew’s honour.  In this way, each year at a time of the year when we celebrate so much achievement, we can also remember and celebrate Andrew’s legacy at AISM. I encourage all families who knew Andrew to share our Middle and Senior School Speech Day with us in the Auditorium on Wednesday 7 December.

The Construction of the new Car Park - update.

The crossover from Jalan Anggerik has now been completed and we are awaiting final council approval to commence the major works of the car park. While we wait to finalise the timing of our next stage, I have shared with you an architect’s impression of what our completed car park may look like.  As soon as we receive council approval we will update you to the dates of the next development works and how they may impact on parents and staff using the car park.
