The China Trip 2006

Just before the end of term 3. Mr. Syme and Ms Ping took 14 students (7 boys and 7 girls) from Year 5, 6 7 and 8 for a 6-day, 4-night China (Beijing) excursion.

A visit to The China International Youth Exchange Center [CIYEC] under the International Youth University and the Forbidden City.
Yes. They are eating scorpions, with different degrees of enthusiasm.

The China Trip was really fun and we got to eat scorpions and the food in China was great.  Jin 6W

On the first night in China we ventured to the busy Beijing streets to find a small theatre, to watch an acrobatic show. It was amazing that they had almost “unnatural” flexibility. The stand out act was when a young guy started stacking chairs on top of each other. Then he’d climb the stack and place another chair on top of the one he was standing on. That moment is something that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.
In fact I think the China trip will be something none of us will forget for the rest of our lives.  Chantelle and Keita 8G

Visiting the Great Wall.

My favorite part of the China Trip was visiting the Summer Palace. The scenery and architecture at the Summer Palace was absolutely beautiful. The only part of the trip I disliked was when we went to the local food markets and some of the boys ate scorpions.

International Day, The Sunday Star Education

The Terry Fox Run 2006 17th September

The Terry Fox run was held on Sunday 17th September at KL Lake Gardens.  Thousands of people from all over Kuala Lumpur showed up at 9 am to run, walk, ride, scoot, or roller blade their way around either the 6.5km or the 3.5km track.  AISM had a group of teachers, students and parents who participated, and we would like to thank these people again for showing their support.  We all had a really great time at the run.

There were some professional photographers taking photos, and the photos posted here are courtesy of LensaMalaysia -   http://www.lensamalaysia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2523

In the week before the run, several students from Year 9 and 10 were selling Terry Fox t-shirts in the canteen.  The t-shirts were sold for RM25 each, and all funds raised will go to CARIF to find a cure for cancer.  AISM alone raised just almost RM2000.
HSC Art & DT students present their Major works - 29th August
After the last minute attention to those last important details, our Senior students presented their efforts at a small gathering on Tuesday evening 29th August. Each artist presented his or her work, and could feel justifiable proud at the end of the formal part of the evening.
The World Cup comes to AISM
Six of our brave Soccer fans submitted themselves to a grueling question time by a reporter from local daily The Star, telling her about their favourite teams.

Yul (from Germany) The interview itself was quite tricky with very simply but hard to answer questions such as, Why do you support so and so. It was fun though. It was great to see everyone  in their jerseys. GO GERMANY!

Alex (from England) The interviewer was a Star Education reporter and she interrogated us!

Kelly (from Holland) It was really fun and interesting. If I could do it again about something else, I would love to.

Nada (from Japan) I thought it was a really good experience.
I enjoyed talking to the reporter & taking photos.
