Joshua Soo  (HSC 2005)

My name is Joshua Soo and I am completing my Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Finance) in the University of Sydney. My experience in AISM gave me more confidence in expressing myself, making it easier to connect with people. There were also many opportunities for me to delve deeper into my passions as well as opportunities to introduce me to new things, which later became my interests. These experiences made me an all-around person, filling each day with all sorts of activities so that every day is different and great fun!

Adeline Soo  (HSC 2003)

My name is Adeline Soo and I’m the first batch of students who graduated from AISM (Year 2003), and the first batch who took the HSC examination.  Where I went to Uni?  Macquarie University   My degree: Bachelor of Commerce – majoring in Marketing and Demography.  Where and what I’m working as?  I’m working as a Marketing Assistant in the Hilton Premium Club Australasia in Sydney.  Handling all the event and package it with Hilton accommodation in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.  How my time in AISM contributed to my success?  AISM helped me build up my confidence and gave me the opportunities to do and experience a lot of activities that government school would have never given me the exposure to.

Anis Matsham  (HSC 2003  School Vice Captain)

I’m one of AISM’s pioneer HSC students. I have recently graduated from The University of Adelaide with double degrees in Accounting and English. Currently, I am in the midst of completing my professional chartered accounting papers while simultaneously working as an accountant in a local company.

AISM was a gateway to many top universities worldwide, especially in Australia. My time spent there has taught me to view things more openly and the HSC’s trained me to be more analytical. This has helped me throughout my university life and now, aids me in the corporate world. AISM opened doors for me in ways I could never have imagined and I am proud to be its graduate.

Saman Sheroz Khan  (HSC 2003)

Holla! My name is Saman Sheroz Khan. I am currently in my final semester of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). IIUM is renown worldwide for its exemplary debating and had won the World Debating Competition in Ireland in 2007. I will be finishing my undergraduate degree by early November this year, I have already been offered a job as an Electrical Engineer at a prestigious French Oil and Gas company called Schlumberger. I will be commencing my job by the end of December.
I was amongst the first group of students to sit for the Higher School Certificate (HSC) in the year 2003. There's many things I fondly hold onto when it comes to AISM.

I had joined AISM in the year 2000 as a year 10 student. I still remember the day I entered the initial school compound and how reluctant I was about leaving my previous school and joining AISM (which was much smaller in population then). I was there when we had our 100
th student join the school, I still remember how Mr Moxham (our principal then) had arranged a school assembly to welcome that particular student.

I was also amongst the first group of girls who joined the school volleyball team. I still remember how we used to dread competing against other schools. I still remember the first game we won and how proud we were to read it in the school bulletin.
I was also amongst the first group of students who joined the Quiz team. I still remember how other teams had mocked us because of our “small” school. I also remember how disappointed those teams were when we were standing on the stage with the trophies. Furthermore, I also remember how proud our principal, Mrs Armstrong (the current principal) had been and how we had been escorted out of class one day just to take a picture with those trophies.
I was also amongst the first group of HSC graduates who had the whole school honour them by holding up their first “bridge of arms” as we exited the hall. I still remember how bad my mascara-stained face had looked when I left the hall.
I was also the first student to join as a teacher's aide at AISM as well. I finally understood. Everything they said FINALLY made sense!! I finally realized how great it was to be a teacher.

Here I am, Saman Sheroz Khan, writing as a 22 year old, about the core lessons of life that I had been privileged to learn as a teenager. Integrity, good sportsmanship, persistent teamwork. All taught in the once petite, family of a school called the Australian
International School, Malaysia.

I have been wanted to say this for many years but I never had the chance: THANK YOU!
