Inquiry and Provocation

This week the Foundation students began a unit of inquiry entitled ‘Weather in My World’. This unit addresses both Science and Geography outcomes. To provoke the children’s curiosity, the teachers set up the Science Lab with each corner representing one of the seasons. The children entered and engaged with the materials in the interactive work stations, before coming together to discuss their experience and to come up with questions that the class will investigate throughout the remainder of the unit. Through investigating these questions, the children will achieve the desired outcomes and develop their scientific and geographical knowledge and skills.

Every one of the 40 children who entered the Science Room on Thursday were engrossed in the experience and are now curious to learn more.
