Integrating Next Generation Learning Spaces

As part of the school’s long term strategic plan to continuously enrich  its environment and programmes for its students, the school is constructing a new Junior School block and undertaking significant refurbishments to its existing facilities. The building and developments will integrate new technologies and concepts of modern and open learning spaces. 

The expansion will see the following enhancements to the school:

  • A Junior Complex with 21 teaching spaces and its own “Parent Interface” with a Junior School Reception
     
  • Information Resource Centre will be 3 times bigger than its current size with new technologies and range of services which includes supporting modern, flexible approaches to teaching and learning.
     
  • Performing Arts facilities, namely building new purpose designed rooms for dance, drama and music (including band room and instrument practice rooms) and even a Black Box Theatre. A Black Box Theatre is a multi-purpose space suitable for music, drama and dance performances. It will be equipped with full lighting, sound and audio-visual facilities and will become a central feature of the new Performing Arts facilities at the school.
     
  • Enhanced and Refurbished Administration, Admissions & Main Reception areas
     
  • Refurbished and Extended Auditorium to accommodate 900 audience.
     
  • Refurbished and Extended Uniform Shop


Following this, the existing Curriculum Block will be re-configurated to enable more focus on service delivery for the Middle and Senior schools. Enhancements will also be underway for classroom fit-outs and other upgrades to specialist rooms such as Science and Technology.

The entire duration of the project is expected to be within 15 to 18 months.  Whilst there will be some changes to our operations, the children of the Australian International School Malaysia will continue to receive a great education, with the full breadth of curricular and extra-curricular activities.
