6 Oct 2013
On 6th of October, AISM took its largest team to the ISAC Cross Country Championships at Alice Smith Secondary Campus. The course was flat and fast with lots of corners, which suited our runners who have been training on Tuesday and Thursday mornings all year. It had rained the night before making the track a little wet, but that didn’t deter the runners from pulling out some excellent performances.
Congratulations must go to our biggest haul of medalists, which is double last year’s effort!
U9 Girls – Alana Gallagher 4th, Yin Jenn Goh 6th
U11 Girls – Sydney Maynard 3rd
U13 Girls – Tamika Baynes 1st, Kiana Baynes 10th
U15 Girls – Kalista Hall 9th, Kimberly Kam 10th
U15 Boys – Henry Baynes 4th
Open Girls – Brooke Turner 4th, Arlene Hassan 10th Vere Michells 11th
Open Boys - Kevin Kam 11th.
This year AISM came fourth overall beating out Nexus, Mt Kiara and Tenby International Schools. There were 88 students from Year 1 through to Year 12 who ran distances including 1500 metres in the Under 9 category, 3km in the Under 13 and Under 15 category and 5km in the Open category. A big thank you must go to all the teachers and parents who helped out on the day giving out bibs, supporting and cheering for our students.
