AISM Students Win Top Medals SEA F1 in Schools Competition

Year 8 AISM Design and Technology students took part in the South East Asia F1 in Schools Finals in June in what was an exciting and educational experience.  F1 in Schools is a global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test and then race miniature compressed air powered balsa wood/foam F1 cars.

AISM teams won the top prize in four of the six categories. During the knockout stages, AISM dominated by holding all four semi-final positions.

In addition to designing and constructing the cars, teams were required to raise sponsorship and manage budgets to fund research, travel and accommodation. The challenge inspired students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.
