POSITION: PREPARATION
AIDE
GENERAL OUTLINE
SUPERVISION
All Teachers’ Aides report to the Assistant Principal. The
Senior Teachers’ Aide has direct supervision of a number of areas delegated by
the Assistant Principal. The Preparation Aide works with and reports to the
Preparation teacher on a day to day basis. The Appraisal is conducted by the
Assistant Principal with input from the Senior Teachers’ Aide, the Head of
Junior School and the preparation teacher.
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
· Assisting with the supervision of students in all activities ensuring that students are well behaved and focused on activities to the best of their ability.
· Actively assisting with specific activities – teaching art and craft activities such as origami, drawing, colouring, painting, reading stories and poems to students, singing and dancing activities and suing equipment such as puzzles, toys, Lego and play dough, encouraging students during news time.
· Assisting with the movement of students around the school to areas such as the Library, gymnasium and auditorium.
· Assisting with special and additional care for specific students who are in need of such care. This involves assisting with students who are not fully able to use toilet facilities on their own.
· Working on special projects by students for display in the room.
· Providing direct contact with parents who wish to give information about their students or who wish to discuss their students. In most cases it is this is the responsibility of the Preparation teacher, however the parents will often speak directly to the Preparation Aide. In such cases it is the responsibility of the Aide to pass on information to the teacher.
ADMINISTRATIVE/ORGANISATIONAL ACTIVITIES
· Organising the preparation area from 8.00am to 8.30 am each morning. Includes raking the sand pit, spraying the classroom for insects, organise both indoor and outdoor equipment.
· Supervising the arrival of students with their parents from 8.30 am including the correct location of shoes, bags, folders, lunch boxes and water bottles.
· Organising cut fruit for Recess and supervising and encourage students eating the fruit.
· Organising the student’s lunch and supervise them during lunch, making sure they finish their lunch.
CLERICAL ACTIVITIES
· Photocopying, laminating, scanning, book binding as required.
SCHOOL DUTIES
· Supervising crèche during ECA, car pick up card collection after school and Junior School play equipment area during Lunch 2 as part of a roster of duties for all Teachers’ Aides. . Cover duties for Teachers’ Aides who are absent.
· Assisting with the organisation and distribution of textbooks in the vacation prior to the start of Term 1 under the supervision of the Senior Teachers’ Aide and the Administration Manager.
· Assist administration by assisting dispatch, school shop and students files as required. This particularly applies to vacations.
· Assisting at special events and functions within the school such as International Day, Special Assemblies (Chinese New Year, Anzac Day, Deepavali, Hari Raya, Christmas and International Day) as appropriate.
