A new relationship

A MISSON to provide quality education prompted the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) to join the Taylor’s Education Group.

“It was only six years ago that we started with a handful of students. Now we have over 400 students from 30 countries.

“We believe that our excellent teaching and learning environment help students realise their full potential.

“We are indeed proud to be part of the Taylor’s family, a premier education group in the country,” said AISM principal Anne-Maree Armstrong recently.

AISM moved to its purposebuilt campus in Mines Resort City three years ago.
The school formally joined the Taylor’s Education Group on March 28.

To mark the new relationship for the two education providers, an Aussie morning tea was held earlier this month. Australian delicacies such as Lamingtons, Anzac biscuits, pies, pumpkin scones and mini apple crumbles were served during the tea.

Taylor’s Education Group schools division president B.K. Gan said the decision to bring AISM into the group was in line with the its mission and values.

“Education is our passion and we want to work together to educate the children of the world and prepare them to become productive individuals,” he said.

In addition to AISM, the other schools under the group are Garden International School and Sekolah Sri Garden.

Prior to the morning tea, student “tour guides” proudly showed off their campus to the visitors before joining them for food and and entertainment.

The occasion was made more memorable with a performance by the AISM choir which sang We are the World

AISM is recognised by the New South Wales Board of Studies and offers academic programmes leading to the School Certificate (SC) at Year 10 and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) at Year 12 matriculation.

The school follows the Australian school calendar, making it easy for transfers to and from any school in Australia.

It moved to its current six-acre premises at Mines Resort City three years ago.

The new site makes extra-curricular activities much easier as the facilities include a full-sized school field and a 25m swimming pool with eight lanes.

The new gymnasium has a wooden floor and is ideal for indoor team games such as badminton and basketball, as well as for dance classes.

Armstrong, who has more than 30 years of teaching experience, says that the AISM curriculum also placed emphasis on personal development.

“We look at how the children connect the information for knowledge. It is recognising what is known and being able to apply it,” said Armstrong.
