3 reasons you should choose the Australian International School Malaysia
Internationally recognised curriculum for global leaders
The Australian curriculum includes an international perspective and draws on research and best practice from many well known curriculum models from around the world. Australia is regularly rated as one of the highest performing countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). This assessment not only tests knowledge, but also thinking and problem solving skills, as it recognises the importance of these qualities in a fast changing 21st century.
The Australian curriculum prepares our students for further education in universities across the world. See our University destinations page to find out where our recent students are studying.
Our students are also taught skills to help them achieve in their careers. Universities and employers value broad knowledge, and see communication, leadership, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and problem solving skills as the mark of a successful employee or student.
On going assessment for continuous improvement
A significant difference between the Australian curriculum and other international curricula is the recognition that students should be given opportunities to be assessed in a range of ways other than just by their performance in one major examination. For AISM students besides the exam based evaluation, about fifty percent is assessed from school based assignments, assessments and projects with a big emphasis on practical development of life skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and leadership. Students are taught thinking routines and given prompt feedback to ensure they continuously improve their understanding and knowledge.
Well connected, secure and green campus
Located on a 7.5 acre green campus in a secure gated community in Seri Kembangan, AISM overlooks the picturesque South Lake of Mines Resort City, a short drive from Kuala Lumpur city center. AISM is a 30 minute drive from most expatriate residential areas in Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley such as Ampang, Mont Kiara, Bangsar, Damansara and 10 to 15 minutes from 3 gated residences close to the school. The school is well located and easily accessible via the MRR2, Besraya, Silk, KESAS and North South Highways.
An advantage of the school's location is that the journey to and fro is against heavy traffic flow during peak hours, making it hassle free for students and parents to get to the school. Bus services also run every morning to the school (which starts at 8.50 am) with two intervals in the afternoon to accommodate students returning directly from school and after school co curricular activities.
