Junior School Athletics Carnival 2016

Elliot Stephen Roberts, Junior School Co Curricular Activities Coordinator

Last Wednesday, 17 February 2016, the Junior School held their annual Athletics Carnival at AISM. It was an action-packed day with countless displays of athleticism, determination and house pride. House war cries started off the day’s proceedings, with the newly appointed House Captains leading their teams.

The sprints were closely contended and there were many photo finishes as students darted across the finish line in impressive fashion. Mammoth throws were made in discus and shot put. Students sailed to great heights in high jump. Students also used their speed and agility to propel themselves forward in long jump.

After a hot and tiring morning, students left just enough in the tank to belt out one final war cry before Thorpe edged out a win in the final event of the day, the team relay. The winners on the day were Freeman by 20 points. A notable mention must also go to Sauvage, whose war cry bellowed around the AISM field late in the day.

The Athletics Carnival wouldn’t have been a success without the  assistance and support of the AISM community. All Age Group Champions will be anounced at special assembly on 11 March at 9.00am in the Auditorium.

Special thanks must go to :

  • Shashi and the facilities team, for the organisation of tents, PA system, water and lines on the field,
  • Parent Association for the Drinks and Ice Block stalls which were a massive success,
  • Umi and the library, for the Roving Book Stall,
  • Parents and carers for their enthusiastic support,
  • Heads of School and teachers for their tireless efforts in the heat and finally,
  • The students for their eagerness, team spirit  and positive attitude throughout the entire day.

Middle and Senior School Carnival

The Middle and Senior School had its Athletics Carnival yesterday at the Stadium Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) here in Bangi. Each year, students from Years 6 to 12 come together to vie for the top spots in various track events including high jump, low jump, discus throw, shot-put, javelin throw and the relay race. The warm sun didn't deter these enthusiastic students from giving their best during the event.
