In the current society with live in, speaking more than one language is no longer an unfamiliar sight.
Studies have shown that learning a foreign language proves beneficial and valuable in recent times.
Junior School

The aim of teaching languages is to enable students to develop communication skills and focus on languages as systems. It gain insights into the relationship between language and culture, leading to lifelong personal, educational and vocational benefits.
Our Junior School curriculum offers Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. All AISM Junior School students study Malaysian Language, Culture, Geography and History.
Middle & Senior School

As students progress in learning foreign languages, their ability to communicate and exchange information becomes more proficient. They form a deep understanding and appreciation of the language’s culture, while encouraging creativity and high critical thinking skills. Our specialists are highly trained and knowledgeable in their expertise, imparting their knowledge and love for the language to our students.
In Middle School, our students must select to study one of our offered languages:
- Bahasa Melayu
- French
- Mandarin
The confidence developed will give them the ability to select a language as an elective in their Senior School and Pre-University.
ACTIVITIES

Language Week
The purpose of the Languages Week is to promote the acquisition of additional languages, to promote intercultural understanding, to showcase student work and to engage the wider school community in language activities, all of which are a vital part of the curriculum. Students will demonstrate how it is possible “to move between cultures” in an international school setting.
The students have the opportunity to participate in activities being held each lunchtime throughout the event. Additional activities take place during LOTE lessons, guest speakers address targeted year levels and Year 5 classes visit Years 6 to 10 LOTE classes before making their LOTE subject selection.

Languages Speaking Competition
Our students who are language learners in Mandarin, Malay, Spanish and French take part in an annual Language Speaking Competition among several international schools. The competition aims to encourage learning of language and enhance learners’ speaking proficiency, provide interaction opportunity among the language learners and motivate learners in language learning.
