Graeme Naftel, Head of Junior School
Congratulations to all of the ELC and LJS children who participated in last Friday’s Variety Showcase, and to the Year 4 Strings group who started the show. Thank you to Mr Gredig for all the work he put into preparing this performance. Our motto at AISM is ‘Explore, Extend, Excel’ and this was a perfect example of the way in which all of our students have the opportunity to explore the Performing Arts.
END OF SEMESTER REPORTS
End of semester reports are available to download from the Parent Portal. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s learning progress over the first half of the year. As per Australian government requirements, all students from Years 1-5 will receive grades on a five point scale. If your child achieves a ‘Sound’ grade, this means that they are achieving at expected level for this stage of the year. Reports can be located under the DMS tab of the parent portal.
PARENT TEACHER STUDENT LEARNING CONFERENCES
Parents are encouraged to read the reports before the Parent Teacher Student Learning Conference, scheduled for Wednesday 17 July. Bookings for this day can be made through the Parent Portal until Sunday 14 July. If you wish to make an appointment with your child’s Mandarin teacher, please contact them directly:
Ms Wan - firstname.lastname@example.org
Ms Hor - email@example.com
Appointments with all other specialist teachers can be made using the online booking system. Please remember that there are no classes or child care arrangements scheduled for that day. Students are required to accompany their parents to the Learning Conference and should wear full School uniform. If you are unable to book a suitable time to meet with your child’s teacher, please email them to arrange an alternate time over the first couple of weeks of next term.
Six and a half years is a long time to stay in an international school, and I can honestly say they have been the best years of my professional life. I am so proud to have been part of the growth of the Junior School and I am so grateful for all the wonderful colleagues with whom I have been lucky enough to work, the caring parents I have enjoyed getting to know, and most importantly, the amazing children who make every day special.
