Michelle Chaplin, Head of Junior School
Term 3 has been simply quite incredible in the Junior School, as we have transitioned from off campus back to our classrooms. The campus has once again been alive with learning and progress as students meet their goals, assess where to next and achieve success in their learning.
I have loved my travels around the school - The opening of the “ELC Cafe” where the students assumed the roles of various personnel in a cafe, created the menu, money and even initiated the correct SOP’s for a cafe. It was wonderful to see their creative minds and problem solving in action!
Discussing the adventures of Matilda with Year 2 - what would the Principal - Miss Trunchbull do about this? - Year 1 exploring their mealworms and whether to make beetle soup? And of course discussing our new playground SOP’s with Year 4 and 5. Our Foundation students have developed into quite the independent group as they exit cars in the morning , organise themselves and indeed check that I have washed my hands every time I visit! Year 3 prepare for their first ever ISA testing next term and are certainly displaying great maturity as they approach Term 4.
Bookweek, Cross Country and RUOK odd socks - AISM continues to thrive!
On returning to campus we had many challenges to ensure we kept our community safe - our students have done us proud as they have truly adjusted to the philosophy of together we can be safe - if we take care and do the right thing!
Our learning journey has been one of huge growth in many areas and I am sure academically we will reap the benefits of our now more independent, ICT savvy students - They are capable and confident - feeling safe to take academic risks again back in the classrooms - I commend our students , teachers and all staff on an amazing Term 3 - can’t wait for Term 4, for our
assessments to show 2020 as a year of success!
Have a wonderful holiday - we miss our parents smiling faces on campus but we do love seeing those we can through the car park!
Today we share our Lower Junior School Assembly via the link - enjoy!
