Ivan McLean, Head of Middle and Senior Schools
Welcome to all students, staff and families for Term 4. I extend a very warm welcome to all of the new families who have joined us this term and trust that the transition of your children into our school will be enjoyable. Homeroom teachers will be in contact with you early next week to ensure that your child is settling well.
I hope all of our families had a relaxing break over the past weeks. It is always joyous to return back to school to see students full of energy and smiles, as well as parents. Even nicer was the fact that students have now had two consecutive terms back on the School campus - for this I am extremely happy and grateful! I hope that you all stay safe as the CoVID numbers increase around Malaysia.
We have a very busy term ahead and it is important for students to carefully plan their time. The assessment calendars for Semester Two are available on the link I sent out earlier this year. If you need another copy of the link, please let me know. Please also know that (particularly in Middle School) there have been some adjustments made to assessment requirements to ease the load that was initially expected in some curriculum areas.
Term 4 is a significant term for summative assessment. There will be an examination block held in Weeks 5 and 6 for students in Years 6 to 10. It is important to ensure that this is a time for student focus and engagement. No additional school activities will take place the week prior to examinations. This week we have conducted our ISA testing and these results will be communicated with families in due time when marks are received back from Australia.
Year 12 students start their HSC written examination period in Week 3. I wish them all the very best as they complete this important set of examinations. Support from staff will continue to be offered to students up to and between examinations, if needed, but it was great to be able to have so many of them back voluntarily in classes this week.
The Final Reports for Year 11 Preliminary HSC will be released to the parent portal at the end of Week 3. Please contact the School if you have any problems accessing the reports on the portal. Year 6 to 10 Semester Two Reports will be released at or around the time of the last day of the School Year, 4 December.
Best wishes to all for a busy term ahead!
