Ivan McLean, Head of Middle and Senior Schools
Our Year 12 students have completed about 30% of their examination period and have just over two weeks of examinations left. On Friday 13 November, we will be saying goodbye to our Year 12 cohort. At the moment, a Farewell Assembly will be held in their honour ending with the Junior School students joining us for the “Tunnel of Love” - albeit a socially distanced tunnel this year! Further details will be sent to parents of the HSC students and will also be made available on E-News once we know more about the CMCO. However, please note that parents of 2020 and Year 12 students are encouraged to “save the date” now. The Year 12 Formal Dinner is also planned to be held that evening. A gentle reminder to Yr 12 parents to RSVP if you have not already done so.
Year 11 Reports
Year 11 Reports were released on the Portal earlier this week. Please remember to download these reports. If you would like to discuss matters from the reports, please feel free to make contact with the relevant teaching staff, Homeroom teachers,
Mr Kennedy the Year 11 Coordinator, Mr Unsworth or myself!
By the time the next School Newsletter is made available, we will hopefully be ready to start Years 6 to 10 examinations! Please remember to be organised, to exercise and eat well during the examination period, and to study hard in the next few weeks. Of course, this depends on CMCO movement as to whether these examinations will be held at school, or at home in some format.
Year 10 Careers Week
Traditionally the School holds a Careers Week for Year 10 students. It was felt that this year we needed to alter a different approach, and I am pleased to say that we will continue with an altered, refreshed approach to this important week! Mr Chris Broadbent, our Careers and Pathways Coordinator, has worked very hard to create a new program, which will be offered at school in the week after examinations. Again, we will finalise details and dates once we are more assured of SOP’s and CMCO happenings.
Class Groupings 2021
Mr Unsworth is currently constructing the timetable for 2021...my thanks to him for his significant and enormous workload while he completes this important task. As a general guideline, whilst completing the timetable we also work with current teachers to determine the class groupings for next year. This is based on their working knowledge of how students work together in the classroom and how they are performing. Mr Unsworth will also write to next year’s Year 9 and Year 11 students to confirm their elective/subject selections.
