Year 7 were introduced to Ancient Rome this morning and after watching a short clip about the Ancient Romans, they completed the Colour Symbol Image routine.
We shared our different ideas as a class and had a lively discussion about some of the colours, symbols and images they had selected to present.
The Colour Symbol Image routine asks learners to: read, watch or listen carefully to a stimulus. identify and distill the essence of ideas. represent big ideas using a colour, symbol and image.
1) To design and build a pinball game using recycled objects.
2) To recognise and apply the process of critical thinking to the design process.
Over a few lessons, students build a pinball game using a choice of ‘design eras’.
They use a range of recycled objects found around home.
They record both their designing and making processes using a critical thinking framework.

Who says you can’t do a devised group performance in lockdown?
Today the students began devising their original group performance for the HSC. Whilst it will not be assessed externally it is still an internal school assessment. Students played around with creating tableaux on Google Meet in ‘tile mode’.
“COVID-19 may have taken away something you were looking forward to but let’s use this situation to respond creatively! That is, create something truly unique that we wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to do in HSC Drama!”
