Year 9 and 10 Passion Projects
Throughout Term 4, the Year 9 & 10 Design & Technology students have been given an open design brief to design a solution to a topic of interest.
Similar to the major projects tackled in Year 12, the Stage 5 students began by exploring a problem and researching the materials needed to develop their solutions.
From there, they jumped into experimenting with ways of either making their product or testing concepts before finalising their products for final development.
From face masks and mask sterilisers through to rugs and desk tidies, we saw a wide range of products. Whilst some students chose to submit a collection of CAD sketches and models, others 3D printed or constructed their items themselves.
Year 9 Textiles - Owl Doorstops
Learning to sew can be a challenge but for our Year 9 Textiles students, who were also all studying in the Intensive English Course, learning to do this whilst online made it even more challenging. However, they all rose to the task to create some remarkable products. Spending a term exploring a range of creative techniques students then designed their own original doorstops in the form of owls.
Year 7 are back in the kitchen
Year 7 Technology were super excited to be back in the Food Technology kitchen last week. They started by learning knife skills and made a batch of fresh vegetable sticks with a tzatziki dip. On Monday, they refined their knife skills by making fresh spring rolls, accompanied by a Vietnamese dipping sauce. Then on Thursday they had fun making a colourful fruit salad, with a lime and honey dressing, so they now have a set of healthy snacks to make during their school holidays.
