Under 9 Boys Football tournament @KLASS
Kim Bradley, MSS CCA Coordinator
Dale Spinks, Junior School CCA Coordinator
The Under 9 Football Boys played in a tournament at KLASS on Saturday the 25 November. The boys’ team comprised of Years 1, 2 and 3. For some of the boys this was their first competitive match that they have played in. This was a great learning experience for all involved! All of the boys displayed great sportsmanship during the five games. The future of football at AISM is in safe hands (feet).
Thank you to Coach Azmir, who trained the boys during CCA throughout the year.
RUGBY Under 18 @ISKL
AISM Under 18s Rugby Sevens side played an ISAC tournament at ISKL. The boys put in a huge effort and continued to put together solid performances match after match.
In the first match against ISKL A the boys were put to the test. With a few unfortunate successive penalties AISM had to battle a good part of the match with only 6 players. They held their own and went down 39-0 to a most formidable opponent.
The second match was against Gardens International School. The boys became more comfortable being on the pitch with each other and were hitting hard in defence. Nick Werner and Dylan McKibbin stood out with heavy defence and savage running, respectively. Unfortunately we were defeated 14-7 but the boys were positive about their performance and were confidently linking passes together.
Sunway were in for a tough day at the office as Alex Oliver led the boys out for the last match of the day. Some fancy footwork and lightning pace saw Ben Kelly score under the posts and convert his own try. Sunway scored a try against play but AISM kept pushing and kept the pressure on with hard running by Tim Millar and Nick Werner both putting their body on the line.
Ben Kelly showed more skill with a 30m dash to score a lovely try that was called back for an incorrect feed to the scrum. The scrum was replayed as the final siren sounded. A morale boosting finish to the day with a 7-all draw against Sunway.
All of the boys did the school proud and played their hearts out. For the boys who had not played much rugby previous to this - please keep it up - you made the difference out there with the commitment you showed.
Under 18 Boys Basketball V MKIS @AISM
The boys won against MKIS 46-35. This was the last match that Zarak Khan, Li Zhen Ng and Jarrod William will play for AISM before they head off to their next adventure. Coach Dale Wells has started to blood our younger players ready to take over the mantle. This was another superb coaching game where our boys were able to demonstrate their athletic basketball skills.
Under 15 Boys Basketball V SIS @AISM
Our Under 15 Boys played Sunway at AISM on Wednesday. There were promising signs of skill improvement and tactical awareness as the game progressed. All of these boys contribute to many of our other sports at the school, so the trick for Coach Wells is to mould these boys into basketballers ready for AISA games and the next ISAC season.
Parkcity International School Friendly Swim Meet
Ivan Yoong, Development Coordinator and Head Coach - Swimming and Triathlon
On Thursday 30 November, our Under 9 and Under 11 boys and girls raced in a swim meet against ISP (host) and Mont Kiara International School. All our swimmers did very well in their events. I am proud to say that even though they are young in age, our students have demonstrated a high level of maturity with behavior and self-discipline.
A big thank you to Mrs Katherine Lau and Mr Azmir who also attended this swim meet.
Congratulation to Brayden Gorbach and Eliza Tan who competed at the Putrajaya Perdana Triathlon on Sunday, 22 October. Both of them were determined to finish on the podium, and as a result, Brayden came first in the10-12 year old Boys category and Eliza finished second for the 10-12 year old Girls category.
The following students also had some great achievements at the EPSOM College Triathlon on Sunday, 12 November. Congratulation to all winners and well done to the AISM team.
Junior School Swim Carnival
Dale Spinks, Junior School CCA Coordinator
Students from PFM through to Year 2 took part in their Lower Junior School Annual Swim Carnival on Friday 24 November. Students had the opportunity to show off their swimming skills and compete in a number of events based on their ability level. The event culminated in a house challenge relay where students had to collect as many paddle pop sticks as possible from the floating buckets in the allocated time. All competitors were then rewarded with an ice block, courtesy of Mr Naftel.
Congratulations to the students from Sauvage House who swam their way to victory and the inter-house trophy.
