On Tuesday 13 February, the Year 6 Science students took their learning about yeast fermentation and food production from the laboratory to the canteen. Each student was given the opportunity to experience the use of yeast in the bread making process by creating their own small loaf of bread. Our head pastry chef in the canteen, Chef Suki, led the students through the process of food bacterial protection, measuring the ingredients, mixing and then kneading the dough. The reactions of some of the students were priceless! The bread was then baked in the canteen ovens, ready for the students to use in their forthcoming investigation into mould. Thank you to all the canteen staff for their help, either directly or indirectly, to Ms Ida, Ms Hafizah, Mr Matheson, and especially to Chef Suki! A great learning experience for our Year 6 students.
